The basic idea

Particles such as photons or electrons can produce interference patterns under suitable experimental conditions. When an experiment is arranged to obtain which-path information, the interference pattern changes or disappears.

Important clarification

“Observation” in quantum experiments means a physical measurement interaction. The experiment does not prove that human consciousness changes reality, and it does not prove we live in a computer simulation.
